371: 2021 Wrap-Up

What is new is often what’s been forgotten.

In this last episode of 2021, Adam Bristol joins Indre to talk about the major highlights of 2021, one being the journey through COVID.  They map out the key episodes of Inquiring Minds throughout 2021, talk through their personal highlights, and recommend books to read. Recapping episodes touching on the history of quarantine, food and science, the interaction between nature and humans, and quantitative approaches to human dating, today’s episode wraps up 2021 in a neat bow, providing an excellent springboard to even more entertaining and informative shows in the coming year.

Adam begins by reflecting on the 202o wrap-up episode and compares it with the end of 2021.  He describes the optimism in both these times as tenuous, given the anticipation of vaccines and the end of COVID at the end of 2020 and today with Omicron on the horizon. He and Indre then highlight insightful episodes of Inquiring Minds from 2021 and the takeaways. One eye-opening insight they touch upon is how the definition of a healthy diet may vary from one person to another as different people have different reactions to the same food.  Indre then recommends her two favorite books for the year, Adam mentions his year's highlights, one being a conversation with two science fiction authors, and Indre ends by sharing what to expect from Inquiring Minds in 2022.
